“Do you like jokes?” is a comedy club in Elgin, Moray, which takes place quarterly. The idea formed after a trip to Edinburgh Festival Fringe the previous August from the question, “Why do we not have any comedy in Elgin.”

The initial problem was finding a venue big enough to make the concept work, and with availability. The only obvious solution was Elgin Town Hall however as a multi purpose venue, the town hall is well used and no dates were available. Luckily, in late March a cancellation made Friday 20th July available and the wheels were set in motion.

July 2012

The canadian comic Tom Stade agreed to headline Do you like jokes? #1 and the supporting line up soon took shape; Larry Dean as compere, Kevin Hayes to open with Martin Bearne and Paul Savage taking middle slots. With a receptive crowd of 250 people, an electric atmosphere and a smooth production, it became obvious very quickly that the people of Moray had taken Do you like jokes? to heart.

November 2012

Our second event in November 2012 was similarly successful. Joel Dommett headlined with Mark Felgate opening. Patrick Rolink was compere and Rob Kane and Alan Sharp completed the line up. Here is a short video made by guerilla film maker Jason Sinclair with some highlights from the event;
